At the Audition

  1. Please bring a piece of music that will demonstrate an effective use of the entire range for a given voice part.  This piece will be used to determine the following:
    1. Use of the entire male or female range.
    2. Proper placement.
    3. Vowel structure.
    4. Tuning.
    5. Breath support.

  2. You will be taken through a series of vocal exercises to determine flexibility from register to the next and ability to adjust placement.

  3. Sightreading – you will be asked to sightread a piece of music or exercise using either solfège or a neutral vowel (“loo” or “la”).  You may also be asked to sing a vocal part from a choral score        while the other three parts are being played.
