At the Audition
An audition takes about 10 minutes. You will be asked to do the following:
- Sing anything of your own choice. Bring sheet music and a copy if possible. An accompanist is provided. This can be part of a choral piece you have learned in the past. Do something you know well and can feel comfortable singing; it does not have to be difficult. A hymn, folk song, or Christmas carol, either the melody or your part, is fine. Bring music that represents you as a choral singer not a soloist.
- Sight-read by singing in various ways, including singing your part in a short choral piece while all four parts are played on the piano.
- Vocalize to demonstrate your range and tessitura.
